I am a Royal Society University Research Fellow and Associate Professor at the University of Warwick (departmental webpage). I am also a Visiting Scholar at Queen’s University Belfast (webpage). For my papers, see the arxiv. I am also active on MathOverflow and sometimes even YouTube.
My research is mostly about group theory and combinatorics, but sometimes I pretend to branch out into things like algebraic combinatorics, number theory, random matrices, and ergodic theory. I am most excited by questions that span multiple fields. In group theory I am especially interested in permutation groups and growth in finite and infinite groups.
When not doing mathematics I like to play badminton, bridge, and guitar (not well). I also like crosswords. In practice I have a wife and two young daughters. As an undergraduate in Cambridge I was voted “most likely to ignore children for crosswords”, but it’s not that easy actually.
The purpose of my blog is to share papers, questions, conjectures, etc that I find interesting, and to publicize my own research and that of my collaborators.
Please do not hesitate to comment or to get in touch! My math email address is my surname dot math at gmail. My departmental email is firstname dot surname at warwick dot ac dot uk.
